WWC Winter 2006 Membership Meeting Minutes
February 18, 2006 American Family Insurance Headquarters
Board Members Present: Dan Bohlin (President), Jason Sable (Secretary), Jim Widder, Alan Rault (Web Master)

The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. by Dan Bohlin.

The Secretary's Report
Minutes were read from January 3, 2006 board meeting.

Treasurer's Report
Balance= +$5206.42
There will be extra spending this year on Public Relations

Committee Reports
Tree and Nut Improvement: Larry Severeid

Report is posted on the website.

Website and Email: Alan Rault

Currently trying to update the website within 48 hours of receiving information from members. Indicated there were a number of people visiting the website through internet searches.

Membership: Dan Bohlin

Membership is down to 152 at the end of 2005. 40 of 152 have not yet renewed for this year.

Public Relations: Dan Bohlin for Ingrid Olsen

An ad for the WWC will be placed in 4 issues of the WWOA magazine.

New Business

WWC Spring Field Day: Jason Sable for Bill Carlson

Field Day will be held May 20th at the Big Springs Fisheries Area north of Highland in Iowa County. Look at new direct seeding, new conventional plantings high density seedling plantings, the portable bridge and discussions on water regulations related to harvesting.

NWC Annual Meeting: July 30-August 2, 2006 in Nebraska City, NE
2007 National Walnut Council Meeting Dubuque

WWOA Annual Meeting: Held in Onalaska September 7-10, Larry Severied will host a clinic on growing hardwoods at his property Sept. 8

WWC Fall Field Day/Annual Meeting: Jim Widder
October 21, 2006 Meeting to be held at the Alan Kelling Farm northeast of Westbend.

2006 Stumpage and Yield Taxes: Matt Singer briefed the group on procedures for selling timber on MFL enrolled land. Matt also gave a brief talk on the best way to sell trees with sealed bids on standing trees with a consulting forester.

2007 Farm Bill: People were encouraged to contact their legislators to make forestry -realted programsva part of new farm bill.

Rudy Nigl: He has ordered trees from Michigan he would like to plant in the different counties in our area.

Meeting ended at 9:00 am.
