June 2 Field Day-Logistics and the current plan for the day were discussed in detail.
2010 Walnut Council National Meeting Wisconsin- Usually scheduled the last weekend in July starting on Sunday afternoon and concluding on Wednesday in the morning. John Nielsen volunteered to investigate possible venues on the west side of Madison. It was decided the Marriot would be a convenient location for close proximity to the University as well as possible field sites to the north and west.
Butternut Preservation Program- Larry Severied asked if the DNR Nursery could partner to collect blight resistant scion wood for grafting. This will be investigated.
National Farm Progress Days Dekalb, IL- It was decided that this will be the last year the State Chapter will contribute to the display based on feedback and little new member recruitment.
Next Board Meeting- The next Board Meeting will be held in conjunction with the National Meeting in Dubuque in July. The best time will be decided based on the agenda.
Membership Meeting- WWC is checking to see if our annual meeting can be held on a day WWOA has is registration for its annual meeting in Baraboo in September It was felt that there would b a good turnout based on the dual membership in the organizations.
Craig Yager is investigating direct marketing log to China and drying small diameter walnut logs prior to processing.
